Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) focuses on improving health and well-being through meaningful occupation. Occupations are activities that people want and need to do and include self-care such as feeding, dressing, and toileting, life skills such as getting around the community and safety procedures, education, work, leisure, play, and social participation. The main goal of occupational therapy when working with children is to help them participate in the activities that are meaningful to them. Participation can be supported or hindered by factors within a person, characteristics of an activity, or the environment.
