TETP plans to establish a permanent clinic for elephant-assisted services, trainings, and research. Although a great deal of research has already been done, more studies are needed on the physical and cognitive effects of elephant-assisted occupational therapy. Currently, researchers with TETP are investigating the use of elephant-assisted occupation therapy for children with learning disabilities, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, Down syndrome, and developmental delay. There is great potential for this approach to benefit many children with disabilities become more functional and independent in their everyday lives.
