The Thai Elephant-Assisted Therapy Project (TETP) has a two-fold mission: 1) To promote function and participation of young people with ASD through interacting with and caring for elephants, 2) To support the welfare and conservation of elephants in Thailand. TETP began in 2007 as a collaboration between conservationists, Occupational Therapy practitioners, and researchers at Chiang Mai University. TETP has completed three research studies on the effects of elephant –assisted occupational therapy for children with ASD and continues to provide ongoing services.
